PM Components

Polarization Maintaining Patchcords are required to interconnect devices while polarization of light is preserved in case it is launched on either the fast or slow axis of the fiber.

We offer a wide variety of Patchcords to match your specific needs.

PM EDFA benchtop

Polarization Maintaining Amplifiers on EDF basis allow to enhance signal Power while a linear input polarization is preserved from input to the output of the EDFA. These EDFAs can be used for multi-purpose applications that require polarization preservation from input to output. Together with our CoBrite laser sources and Polarization Maintaining Multiplex devices we offer a complete solution to address your needs.

We offer a benchtop variant as well as a 19" rack mountable version. Multiple maximum output power variants, single and gain flattened multi-channel devices are available.

Our “PMUX” solution is the ideal choice if your application requires ultra-high channel counts and low insertion loss budged for multiplexing. It features a polarization maintaining AWG to multiplex channels on ITU grid with low insertion loss even for high channel count systems while polarization of each laser line is preserved. Stable output polarization of all laser lines allows for arbitrary modulation of a channel comb using Mach-Zehnder structures to emulate DWDM spectra as depticted below.

Polarization Maintaining Couplers complement our CoBrite series of laser sources and allows to multiplex channels on any arbitrary grid (“FlexiGrid” feature”) while polarization of each input is preserved. Stable output polarization of all laser lines allows for arbitrary modulation of a channel comb using Mach-Zehnder structures.

Using couplers instead of complicated tunable Filter or WSS structures to generate Flexigrid scenarios offers cost savings and no effort for configuration of WSS structure while polarization preservation is delivered for free.

If high port count Polarization Maintaining Couplers are required to multiplex many channels, amplification might be required to compensate for loss incurred.

We offer Polarization Maintaining EDFAs in case the resulting output power is too low for your application while still offering great cost advantage over a WSS structure for multiplexing.

Our standard portfolio covers 1x2, 1x4, 1x8 and 1x16 PM couplers. Higher port count couplers cann be provided upon request.
